Nico Robin, also known as Robin was born on 6 February (age 28 years; pre-time skip, and 30 years; post-time skip) on the Island of Ohara, West Blue. Her Zodiac sign is Aquarius. Her blood type is S. Robin belongs to a clan of scholars from Ohara who used to study ancient history. She is the last survivor of the clan with the goal to discover the truth about World History and the Void Century.

In one of the interviews, Oda (creator of One Piece) stated that he got the inspiration to draw Robin from the character of Quentin Tarantino. Initially, Robin was introduced in the series as an antagonist but later ended up becoming a part of the crew.

Story/Mission

Soon after becoming a scholar, Robin got to know that her Island was in danger, and the government had issued an order to release a buster call upon the place, destroying all the information and people with it. She ran away from the place where she met Jaguar D Saul who helped her escape the Island along with the assistance of Admiral Aokiji. She became a prime target for the government, so she spent many years of her life running from place to place, escaping from the hands of the Government that wanted to capture her due to her ability to read Ponyglyphs and as the last survivor of the Ohara Clan.

By the age of 24, she had started working for a warlord of the sea, Sir Crocodile under the alias of Miss All Sunday. She worked with him to gain access to the ponyglyphs, and it was later discovered that they did not have the information she wanted. After the events of the Alabasta and the defeat of Crocodile by Luffy, Robin joined the crew by herself as she felt indebted to Luffy for saving her life. She got to discover various ponyglphys and keeps getting close to uncovering the mysteries of the lost history throughout the story. After that time skip of 2 years, she learned to change a lot as a person and as a fighter. She developed various techniques in order to get the maximum benefit from her Devil Fruit and helped her crew to fight against various difficulties.

After joining the Straw Hat Crew, Robin goes on various adventures throughout the Grand Line, where she finds various ancient texts and is able to decipher them in order to find truths about various hidden truths of the Void Century and Ancient Weapons. She was captured by the CP9 (Cipher Pol 9) who wanted to execute her at the Enies Lobby, where she was ready to die but then cried for help after seeing the Straw Hat Crew who rescued her and stop her assassination.

 

Robin hated herself for who she was and how the world treated her, but after getting rescued, she changed her mindset and started believing that she deserved to be loved and have friends. She wants to find the one who created the ponyglphys and discover the truths of the events that happened 800 years in the past. She accompanies Luffy and the crew to sail around and reach the last island called Raftel (Laught Tale) in order to know the final connections of the creation of poneglyph and their relation with Joyboy from 800 years in the past.

Later, Luffy returned the favor by forcefully saving her life and making her want to live. Zoro and Robin are the most mature people on the crew and they both care a lot for each other. She relies on Zoro to protect her in time of need, and Zoro has proved to be her shield and has saved her from death many times.

Sanji has always been crazy about Robin and flirts with her every time, calling her “Robin-Chwan” with affection. He loves to cook for her and see her smile. He got to know her more and ended up saving her during Enies Lobby Arc disguised as Sogeking (Sniper King) and officially declaring war against the World Government. Everything Chopper does makes her want to love him even more, and she loves spending time with him the most. Franky (Cyborg Franky) was the first person who was ready to stand for Robin during the Enies Lobby incident as they both shared a traumatic past because of the actions of the World Government. Both of them form a good duo, but Robin hates the ideas and silly suggestions given by Franky. He wants her to be a part of their Docking Activity, but she always refuses to do so. During the fight with Black Maria on Onigashima, Robin revealed her new form under which she could transform herself into an actual demon which gave her the abilities of Demon and along with her devil fruits combined abilities. Robin is a superb archaeologist with a depth of historical and cultural expertise. The language on the poneglyph tablets, which preserve records of ancient history, is only currently understood by her. Robin also knows a lot about most of the important people in the world and has at least heard of Red-Haired Shanks, Dragon, Gecko Moria, and the Vinsmoke Family, to name a few. Even top-secret organizations, such as the different Cypher Pol units of the World Government, are known to her.
