Love Interest – Girlfriends
Orochimaru never took an interest in women. His pursuits and ambitions lie more in the realm of power, immortality, and knowledge.
Orochimaru, an orphan, was taken under the wing of Hiruzen Sarutobi, along with Jiraiya and Tsunade, during their time as pupils. While Jiraiya had a more easygoing nature, Orochimaru stood out as a genius, showcasing exceptional talents, insight, and unwavering determination. Hiruzen regarded Orochimaru as a prodigy whose abilities were rarely seen in a generation. However, Tsunade noted that even in his childhood, Orochimaru displayed a twisted personality. It is believed that his sadistic attitude emerged from the tragic loss of his parents.
During the Second Shinobi World War, Orochimaru fought alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade against Hanzō. As a result of their fierce battle and survival, Hanzō rewarded them with the title of Konoha’s “Three Legendary Shinobi.” On their journey back to Konoha, the trio encountered three orphaned children from Amegakure. Orochimaru initially suggested ending their suffering through mercy killing, but Jiraiya intervened and decided to take them under his wing, providing them with training and guidance.
In the anime, Orochimaru planned a scheme to manipulate Blue B, the host of the Eight-Tails, in Kumogakure. Masked as a Kumo-nin and posing as Blue B’s doctor, Orochimaru tricked him into consuming special genjutsu-inducing pills, leading to the Eight-Tails going on a rampage. Taking advantage of the chaos, Orochimaru extracted the tailed beast and obtained its severed horn, from which he harvested Blue B’s DNA.
Later, Orochimaru encountered the Iburi clan, who lived underground near Konoha and possessed the ability to transform into smoke. fascinated by their unique ability, Orochimaru took advantage of the clan’s fear of their imperfect transformation by partially stabilizing it with his cursed seals. He convinced the clan that he needed further research to perfect the process and willingly received test subjects from them.
When Team Hiruzen was disbanded, Orochimaru became a member of the Anbu and joined Root, a secret organization operating under Danzō Shimura. He also took on the role of mentor to Anko Mitarashi. It was during this time that Orochimaru crossed paths with Kabuto Yakushi while accompanying Danzō on a mission involving the boy’s guardian, Nonō. While Orochimaru had ambitions of becoming the Fourth Hokage, his intentions were driven by his own agenda. Despite Hiruzen’s awareness of Orochimaru’s potential for evil, he hoped to guide him back to the right path, only to realize that Orochimaru was beyond forgiveness. When Hiruzen ultimately appointed Minato as his successor, Orochimaru saw no reason to stay in Konoha and became less cautious with his actions. Orochimaru also allied himself with Amachi with the goal of creating a shinobi capable of underwater combat. They kidnapped villagers from the Land of the Sea for their experiments, and Orochimaru introduced Anko to the project. However, Orochimaru eventually lost interest in the project, ordered Amachi to cancel it, and considered Anko a lost cause for her refusal to use the cursed seal. He erased her memories as she departed from him.
Orochimaru, one of the most iconic characters in the Naruto series, was created by Masashi Kishimoto, the renowned mangaka and author of Naruto. Kishimoto designed Orochimaru’s character as a complex and puzzling figure, shrouded in mystery and driven by a desire of achieving power and immortality. Kishimoto added a mixture of intelligence, cunning, and darkness to this character, which set Orochiamru’s character apart from other Naruto characters. Orochimaru’s snake-like appearance, his pale complexion, and his calm voice further added to his unique personality. Masashi Kishimoto’s skillful storytelling and character development brought Orochimaru to life.
Orochimaru proceeded to conduct experiments involving Hashirama Senju’s DNA, kidnapping sixty children in an attempt to recreate the First Hokage’s Wood Release. With assistance from Danzō, he worked on perfecting the process. One child managed to survive the Wood Release experiment of which Orochimaru was unaware. Later, Orochimaru refined his techniques and successfully injected Hashirama’s cells into the Sharingan-infused right arm of Shin Uchiha, which he then transplanted onto Danzō.
Also, Orochimaru conducted a series of cruel experiments on his prisoners, including fellow Konoha shinobi that he had kidnapped. These experiments were aimed at developing techniques that would grant him immortality, ultimately leading to the creation of the Living Corpse Reincarnation. During his research, Orochimaru discovered Kimimaro, the last surviving member of the Kaguya clan, on the edges of Kirigakure. Kimimaro’s assistance led Orochimaru to the Ryūchi Cave, where he mastered senjutsu. However, Orochimaru could not enter Sage Mode due to his host body’s fragility. Instead, he developed an alternative method of harnessing senjutsu chakra through cursed seals, which he tested on individuals such as Anko and the Sound Four, and later finalized the versions used on Kimimaro and the Sound Four.
At some point, Orochimaru was on a mission by Danzō to Iwagakure. But Orochimaru had a different plan in mind. Instead of following orders to have Kabuto and Nonō kill each other, Orochimaru brought Kabuto to his hideout, which eventually became Otogakure, his personal hidden village. Orochimaru revealed to Kabuto the true intentions of Root and the role Kabuto was meant to play in it. Although Orochimaru admitted that he was initially sent to kill the survivor of this ordeal, he saw potential in Kabuto and recognized a reflection of himself in the young boy. Orochimaru believed that killing Kabuto would be a waste of such great talent, and he offered him a position as his right-hand man and spy. In addition, Orochimaru promised Kabuto a new identity within his organization.
When Hiruzen discovered his forbidden experiments, he decided to stop Orochimaru. Hiruzen, unable to bring himself to kill his former student, allowed Orochimaru to flee. In the anime, during his escape, Orochimaru encountered Kakashi Hatake. Despite Kakashi’s best efforts, Orochimaru quickly overpowered him and left him seriously wounded. Seeking to restore his power, Orochimaru visited the cave where the Iburi clan resided and killed them all. He was pursued by Kakashi and Kinoe, and during the chase, he attempted to take a blood sample from the youngest member of the clan, Yukimi. Orochimaru intended to inject her blood into himself temporarily to acquire her abilities and cross the border unnoticed. However, before he could do so, he was attacked and had to retreat. Orochimaru then proceeded to destroy most of his research facilities and set booby traps in the remaining ones to cover his tracks and protect his secrets.
After leaving Konoha and rejecting Jiraiya’s plea to reconsider, Orochimaru joined the criminal organization Akatsuki. He was paired with Sasori and together they contributed greatly to the organization’s activities. Orochimaru was fascinated when Itachi Uchiha joined Akatsuki, showcasing his impressive skills with the Sharingan. However, Orochimaru’s desire to obtain Itachi’s Sharingan and take over his body led to a confrontation. Itachi used his Sharingan to prevent Orochimaru from stealing his body and severed Orochimaru’s left hand to keep him restrained in a genjutsu. As a result, Orochimaru left Akatsuki in search of a new body.
Due to his defection, Sasori developed a grudge against Orochimaru and used Kabuto, whom Orochimaru had sent as a spy within Akatsuki, to counter-spy as a sleeper agent. However, Orochimaru discovered and reversed the technique Sasori had placed on him. Orochimaru took advantage of a tip from Kabuto that Sasori was on his trail and used it as an opportunity to test his development of the Second Hokage’s Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation. He summoned the actual Third Kazekage through this technique to battle Sasori’s puppet. Although the reincarnated Third Kazekage proved to be stronger than the puppet, Orochimaru’s technique was incomplete, allowing the Third Kazekage to regain control and break the summoning contract.
Throughout his life, Orochimaru also searched for the Sword of Totsuka, an ethereal sword. However, he was unaware that Itachi’s Susanoo possessed the sword.
During the Chunin Exams, Orochimaru entered as an ordinary contestant, hiding his true identity and intentions. His powerful jutsu surpassed the capabilities of the exam proctors and succeeded in entering the Forest of Death without obstruction. Upon receiving information from Kabuto about Sasuke’s presence in the exams, Orochimaru became instantly interested. Being one of the last known living Sharingan users, Orochimaru saw Sasuke as a potential vessel for his own survival, as his current body was nearing its three-year limit. Taking advantage of Kakashi’s absence, Orochimaru launched a surprise attack on Team 7, catching them off guard. Orochimaru placed a curse mark on Sasuke during their encounter. The curse mark granted Sasuke enhanced abilities and increased power, but it also had a corrupting influence on his mind and judgment.
Orochimaru’s time in the Akatsuki was marked by a lack of alignment with the organization’s goals. He viewed it more as a means to approach potential strong hosts for his own ambitions. Among them, Orochimaru took a particular interest in Itachi Uchiha. Seizing an opportunity to isolate Itachi from his comrades, Orochimaru attempted to bind him using an elongated python arm. He believed Itachi, with his older age and more evolved Sharingan, would be an even greater prize than his brother. However, Orochimaru’s attempt to capture Itachi ended in a comical failure. Itachi easily escaped his grasp by casting a genjutsu and prepared for a fair fight. Orochimaru, still recovering from his battle with Hiruzen Sarutobi, was unable to defend himself due to his injured arms. Fortunately for him, Kabuto intervened by using paper bombs, allowing Orochimaru to escape the situation.
In a desperate attempt to revive his damaged body, Orochimaru approached Tsunade and requested her assistance in healing his arms. To convince her, he offered to bring back her deceased loved one using Edo Tensei. Tsunade seemed interested in the offer but ultimately turned it down. Feeling insulted and unwilling to let Tsunade, a highly skilled healer, fall into enemy hands, Orochimaru and Kabuto prepared to attack her. However, Jiraiya intervened and came to Tsunade’s aid. In this fight, Orochimaru was outnumbered, and also he couldn’t fight due to his disabled arms.
Following the time skip, a fight took place between Kabuto and Yamato, Sakura, and Naruto. Their objective was to retrieve Sasuke and bring him back to the village. However, Orochimaru, unwilling to let his apprentice be captured easily, joined the fight. The purpose of this battle was for Orochimaru to assess Naruto’s growth since their last encounter in the forest of death and to understand the true extent of Kurama’s chakra. Despite unleashing numerous snakes in his arsenal, Orochimaru proved to be outmatched by Naruto’s power. Realizing the strength of the Jinchuriki, Orochimaru chose to retreat at the earliest opportunity.
During the Chunin Exams, Orochimaru undercovered himself as the Kazekage to approach Hiruzen. As the battle between Sasuke and Gaara unfolded, Orochimaru had Kabuto cast a genjutsu over the audience and attempted to assassinate his former mentor. The confrontation escalated onto the rooftops of Konoha, where the Sound Four, Orochimaru’s loyal followers, were waiting. They created a powerful energy barrier, isolating Hiruzen and preventing the Leaf Village from coming to his rescue. Hiruzen, accompanied by his summon Enma, had to face Orochimaru and the resurrected Hokages controlled through the Edo Tensei technique. Realizing that a fair fight wouldn’t lead to his victory, Hiruzen used his own forbidden jutsu: the Reaper Death Seal. This technique allowed him to extract Orochimaru’s soul while sacrificing his own. Although he succeeded in destroying Orochimaru’s arms, he was unable to fully eliminate his former student.
Acquiring Immense Knowledge and Abilities: Orochimaru’s greedy thirst for power leads him to seek forbidden and dark techniques. His experiments and research allow him to acquire a vast array of jutsu, including the Snake Sage Mode, the Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation, and numerous other forbidden jutsu. These abilities make him an incredibly formidable opponent.
Establishing the Hidden Sound Village: Orochimaru successfully forms and becomes the leader of the Hidden Sound Village, which operates as a base for his experiments and acts as a threat to other nations. This achievement provides him with resources and a power base to carry out his plans.
Manipulating Sasuke Uchiha: Orochimaru succeeds in manipulating Sasuke, one of the main protagonists, by exploiting his desire for power and revenge. He offers Sasuke the means to become stronger and trains him, ultimately setting Sasuke on a path of darkness. Orochimaru’s influence on Sasuke’s development plays a significant role in the series.
Failure to Defeat Itachi Uchiha: Orochimaru seeks to obtain Itachi Uchiha’s Sharingan eyes but is ultimately defeated in battle. Itachi’s superior skills and abilities prove too much for Orochimaru, leading to his defeat and subsequent sealing.
Betrayal and Loss of Kabuto’s Loyalty: Kabuto Yakushi, Orochimaru’s loyal servant, eventually turns against him. Kabuto surpasses Orochimaru in power and knowledge, leading to Orochimaru’s own forced absorption and subsequent imprisonment within Kabuto’s body.
Being Defeated by Sasuke: Orochimaru’s own student, Sasuke, eventually surpasses him in power and skill. In their climactic battle, Sasuke successfully overpowers Orochimaru, forcing him to retreat and leaving him in a weakened state.
His Ultimate Goal Remains Unfulfilled: Orochimaru’s primary goal is to acquire all the knowledge and jutsu in the world and achieve immortality. Despite his extensive research and experiments, he fails to achieve true immortality, forcing him to use body-hopping to extend his lifespan.
Orochimaru’s former mentor and the Third Hokage of Konohagakure, Hiruzen Sarutobi became one of his primary targets. The Third Hokage was determined to bring Orochimaru to justice and put an end to his destructive experiments and the quest for immortality. On the other hand, Orochimaru was determined to kill his master.
Orochimaru’s former teammate and one of the Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya was a rival to Orochimaru. Despite their shared past and training under Hiruzen, their paths diverged due to Orochimaru’s interest in forbidden experiments. Jiraiya tirelessly sought to bring Orochimaru back to the right path which led to several intense combats.
Orochimaru was interested in the Sharingan eyes of Itachi Uchiha. Their encounter resulted in a clash of skills and ideologies. Orochimaru failed to possess Itachi’s body. Itachi would have killed Orochimaru if Kabuto wouldn’t arrive at the site to rescue Orochimaru.
Sasuke, Itachi’s younger brother, became one of Orochimaru’s primary targets for his potential as a vessel. Orochimaru manipulated and trained Sasuke, aiming to make him a vessel for his own rebirth. When Sasuke became a fine ninja and had nothing left to learn from Orochimaru, Sasuke sought revenge against Orochimaru for his manipulation and the suffering he endured.
Tsunade, who later became the Fifth Hokage, was once a teammate of Orochimaru. They executed many missions and even fought together during the Second Shinobi War. Eventually, they both took different paths and cut ties with Konoha.
Jiraiya considered Orochimaru a friend, while Orochimaru had no intention of befriending anyone. He even developed a one-sided rivalry with Orochimaru over Tsuande. When Orochimaru abandoned Konoha Village, Jiraiya did not give up on his friend and intended to bring him back.
Sasuke, once a member of Team 7, had a complicated bond with Orochimaru. After Orochimaru’s departure from Konohagakure, Sasuke sought him out to gain power and seek revenge against his brother Itachi. Orochimaru became a mentor figure to Sasuke, teaching him forbidden techniques and aiding in his quest for strength. While their alliance was based on shared goals, Sasuke eventually outgrew Orochimaru’s influence and pursued his own path.
Kabuto was one of Orochimaru’s closest associates and right-hand men. As a skilled medic-nin, spy, and master of information gathering, Kabuto proved to be invaluable to Orochimaru’s research and operations. Kabuto’s loyalty to Orochimaru was initially unwavering, although his motivations and allegiances evolved over time.
The Sound Four were a group of highly skilled shinobi loyal to Orochimaru. They acted as his elite guard and carried out his orders. Jirobo, Kidomaru, Sakon, Tayuya, and Kimimaro were chosen for their exceptional abilities and unwavering loyalty to Orochimaru. While their alliance was primarily based on enslavement, they played crucial roles in Orochimaru’s plans and served as formidable adversaries during battles.
Orochimaru’s personality is often described as “twisted” by many, including Tsunade. His MBTI personality type is INTP. It is believed that the death of his parents at a young age, as well as his observation of Tsunade’s losses, developed a despise for the fragility of human life and a desire for immortality in him.
Over time, Orochimaru’s agenda caused him to develop a god complex and a high opinion of himself. He takes pleasure in instilling terror in others upon their first encounter with him. While he often provokes conflicts for his own amusement, he shows little interest in wars initiated by others. Orochimaru is a perfectionist who strives for success in his various projects and looks down upon those who are careless or sloppy in their aims. He possesses a charismatic nature that attracts followers, whom he may send on dangerous missions for his own benefit. Although he expresses some sorrow if they fail, he has no sentimental attachments to them despite their value in achieving his goals.
When Orochimaru took Sasuke as his apprentice, seeing him as a prodigy similar to himself, his intention was to eventually take Sasuke’s body and obtain the Sharingan, a crucial step in his ambitions. While Orochimaru knew that Sasuke was willing to do anything for revenge, even sacrificing his own body, he anticipated the possibility of betrayal from his disciple and showed only a slight level of surprise when it actually happened. What truly surprised Orochimaru was Sasuke’s decision to decide his own path and eventually defend the village he initially wanted to destroy. Orochimaru openly approved of this decision and was curious to see the ultimate outcome.
Orochimaru initially ignored the existence of Naruto Uzumaki. However, after Naruto defeated Kabuto with the Rasengan, Orochimaru became interested in his development. Although he initially attempted to kill Naruto, recognizing him as a future threat, Orochimaru provoked Naruto during their battle to draw out his full potential. As the war progressed, Orochimaru’s respect for Naruto grew stronger when he witnessed Naruto’s unwavering willpower and was influenced by his memories with Jiraiya.
One notable aspect of Orochimaru’s personality is his arrogance, which also happens to be his greatest weakness. He attacks great foes like Itachi Uchiha and his former master, Hiruzen, carelessly, thinking he has achieved immortality. In both instances, Orochimaru suffered severe consequences, either due to his desire to make his opponents suffer or his lack of knowledge about his opponents’ true capabilities.
After being revived by Sasuke, Orochimaru’s personality underwent some changes. While he remains self-serving, he realized the mistake of completely copying others, as seen through his observation of Kabuto. He became interested in Sasuke’s “different path” and chose to fight alongside the Uchiha instead of ignoring Madara’s war. He prioritized the healing of Tsunade and the other Kage after their defeat. Orochimaru displays genuine concern for Sasuke’s well-being, as he diverts his attention upon sensing Sasuke on the verge of death. He also shows signs of regret, expressing sadness over the death of his childhood friend Jiraiya.
Years later, while Orochimaru remains interested to uncover the secrets of life, he does so in a relatively more humane manner. He helped in reforming Konohagakure and developed a relatively trusting relationship with the higher-ups of the village. Orochimaru willingly helps Konoha in research on important matters and feels responsible for making atonement for his past mistakes. Orochimaru also feels indebted to Naruto as the Hokage for watching over Mitsuki. He encourages Mitsuki to make his own decisions, expressing high hopes for his natural growth. However, Orochimaru still uses manipulation and deception to place Mitsuki in situations where important decisions must be made. He also shows interest in the children of Naruto and Sasuke, particularly fascinated by Boruto’s unwavering spirit, similar to his father. These changes have led even the White Snake Sage to view Orochimaru as a “soft” personality.
Emotional Strength: 10/10
Social Skills: 8/10
Orochimaru’s usual attire consists of plain grey garb, with a black polo and pants worn underneath. He wears a thick purple rope belt that is tied in a large knot behind his back. He adorns himself with blue tomoe-shaped earrings and wears shinobi sandals with bandages wrapped around his calves. On certain occasions, Orochimaru is seen wearing kimonos of different colors, typically seen in flashbacks or within his hideouts.
During his time as a member of the Akatsuki, Orochimaru donned the standard red and black Akatsuki robes. He wore a slate blue ring on his left pinky finger, which featured the kanji for “sky” or “void” (空, kū).
In later years, Orochimaru’s attire consists of a white robe that is tied at his waist using a dark-colored sash and a purple rope. He pairs this with blue pants and a matching shirt.
Orochimaru extensively modified his own body through scientific experiments and forbidden jutsu. He used intricate surgical procedures and biochemical enhancements to enhance his physical capabilities and extend his lifespan. These modifications granted him unparalleled flexibility, dexterity, and regenerative abilities.
Orochimaru’s fascination with snakes manifested in his transformations, as he incorporated snake-like characteristics into his body. His tongue became long and forked, resembling that of a snake, and he acquired slitted pupils, giving him a reptilian appearance.
Orochimaru developed a unique transformation involving Adamantine Chains, which sprouted from his arms and acted as powerful restraints or offensive weapons. These chains were composed of hardened chakra and were virtually indestructible. Orochimaru could manipulate their length, shape, and movement.
Orochimaru was a prodigious user of ninjutsu, particularly in the field of medical and elemental ninjutsu. He can perform complex surgeries, heal wounds, and use various elemental techniques such as fire, earth, and water jutsu with remarkable skill and precision. Also, he could execute complex sealing jutsu to trap opponents, seal their abilities, or contain powerful entities.
Orochimaru had a unique ability to summon and control a wide range of creatures, particularly snakes. In anime/manga, we see him summoning giant reptiles for both offensive and defensive purposes.
Orochimaru developed a jutsu that enabled him to instantly switch places with a nearby object or even another person. This technique is useful for evading attacks, surprising opponents, and creating strategic advantages during combat.
Orochimaru’s body modifications granted him exceptional regenerative abilities. He could regenerate lost limbs, and survive injuries that would be fatal to ordinary shinobi. So he often pushes his physical limits in battles without fear of immediate consequences.
Orochimaru created and distributed Cursed Seals, markings infused with his chakra that granted recipients enhanced strength, speed, and other abilities. These seals had different levels of power, with the most effective being the Cursed Seal of Heaven. Once activated, the seal would unleash a surge of dark energy, making the user enormously powerful at the cost of their sanity and control.
Orochimaru sought to achieve immortality by transferring his consciousness and spirit into different host bodies. This forbidden technique allowed him to extend his life span and access the abilities and knowledge of his chosen vessels. By discarding his old body and inhabiting a new one, Orochimaru could continue his pursuit of power and evade the natural limitations of mortality.
Orochimaru possessed a vast amount of knowledge, particularly in the fields of forbidden jutsu, medical ninjutsu, and scientific experimentation.
Orochimaru’s body modifications and experiments were a double-edged sword. While they granted him enhanced abilities and regenerative powers, they also left him reliant on these modifications. If his techniques were disrupted or his enhancements were nullified, his true physical limitations could be exposed.
Orochimaru possessed the legendary Kusanagi Sword, a powerful weapon known for its exceptional cutting ability and durability. The sword could be extended and controlled using Orochimaru’s chakra. Like most shinobi, Orochimaru carried a standard arsenal of throwing weapons such as kunai and shuriken. Also, Orochimaru was famous for his expertise in poisons and toxins. He often used various vials and containers filled with deadly substances, which can incapacitate or kill enemies.
Orochimaru’s signature technique involved extending his arms into elongated, serpentine appendages capable of striking from a distance. These snake-like arms had immense reach and could bind, constrict, or deliver devastating blows to his opponents.

- The Third Hokage had initially considered Orochimaru as a potential successor to his position. Hiruzen recognized Orochimaru’s immense talent and intelligence, which made him a suitable candidate for the role of Hokage. He accomplished a total of 1,468 missions, which includes 16 D-rank missions, 332 C-rank missions, 521 B-rank missions, 491 A-rank missions, and 108 S-rank missions. In comparison, Naruto’s mission count during his active days was 16.

Along with his proficiency in Yin and Yang release, Orochimaru has particularly excelled in Wind Release, as well as Earth Release.
- Orochimaru’s summoning creature, Manda, is his reliable ally known for its strength and power. Despite Manda’s arrogance, he displays loyalty to Orochimaru due to his superior abilities. Manda acknowledges that he would be unable to defeat Orochimaru in battle.
- After his departure from Konoha, Orochimaru established a new village called Otogakure, which he presented as a place for skilled shinobi to discover their true purpose. However, this was merely a lie to conceal his true intentions. In reality, Orochimaru manipulated the village and its inhabitants for his forbidden jutsu and unethical scientific research, disregarding their well-being and using them as a means to further his own power and knowledge.
- Prior to the revival of the Fourth Hokage and others through the use of Edo Tensei during the Fourth Shinobi War, Orochimaru was unable to utilize Sage Mode. Despite undergoing intense training with the White Snake Sage in the Ryuchi Cave, Orochimaru was unsuccessful in mastering Sage Mode due to the fact that he no longer possessed his original body. However, after the war, Orochimaru managed to acquire a new vessel by using the White Zetsu, which made it possible for him to tap into Sage Mode.
- Orochimaru indeed had intentions to undertake Akatsuki, the organization founded by Nagato (also known as Pain). His objective was to target the strongest shinobi within Akatsuki, particularly focusing on Itachi Uchiha. However, Orochimaru’s time with Akatsuki was cut short as Itachi intervened and prevented him from carrying out his plans. Itachi’s actions thwarted Orochimaru’s attempts and ensured that he couldn’t execute his schemes within the organization.
- Orochimaru’s desire to possess the Uchiha’s power and the Sharingan led him to target Itachi and later Sasuke. Realizing that he couldn’t defeat Itachi in a direct confrontation, Orochimaru shifted his focus to Sasuke as a potential vessel. However, Orochimaru failed to fully take over Sasuke’s body and was only able to leave a cursed seal on him, which granted him some measure of control and power over Sasuke.
- During his battle with Hiruzen Sarutobi, it was revealed that Orochimaru had been using forbidden experiments to transfer his consciousness into different human bodies. The purpose of this dark practice was to maintain his youth and continue his pursuit of immortality. Orochimaru’s real body no longer existed, as he constantly sought out new vessels to inhabit.
- Orochimaru engaged in cruel and unethical experiments involving the implantation of Hashirama cells into babies. This horrifying act resulted in the deaths of 60 infants. Yamato, formerly known as Tenzo, was the only survivor of these experiments. It explains why Masashi Kishimoto, creator of the Naruto series, decided to resemble Orochimaru as a snake.
- Orochimaru had a change of heart and decided to aid Shinobi Alliance during the Fourth Shinobi War. Despite his dark history and unforgivable crimes, Orochimaru was invited to Naruto and Hinata’s wedding.
- It was Kishimoto’s editors who suggested introducing Orochimaru into the Naruto series to enhance the series’ popularity, but Kishimoto initially had some plans. He wanted to focus on resolving the ongoing arc with Shikamaru Nara. However, he eventually accepted their advice and went on to create Orochimaru.
- Orochimaru is known by a single name with no surname mentioned in the Naruto series. However, there is speculation regarding his potential surname based on a scene where he visits his parents’ grave. The names on the gravestone are briefly shown but are too blurry to be clearly read. This has led to the possibility that Orochimaru might have inherited one of his parents’ surnames but chose not to use it, or that his surname is intentionally not revealed in the story.
- Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya are often referred to as the Legendary Sannin. According to databooks, these three have the same blood group, B. And in Japanese culture, blood types are sometimes believed to be associated with certain personality traits.
- In the anime adaptation of Konoha Hiden: The Perfect Day for a Wedding, Orochimaru makes some unexpected and humorous appearances. These scenes depict Orochimaru running through town with Yamato chasing after him. Rather than being portrayed as a serious threat, Orochimaru is shown behaving in unusual ways, such as lurching around like a zombie or getting scared by bugs.
- Throughout the series, Orochimaru has swapped many bodies, both male and female, to remain immortal. As a result, Orochimaru no longer identifies strictly as male or female. This explains why Orochimaru prefers to be referred to as Mitsuki’s “parent” rather than using specifically gendered terms like “mother” or “father.”
- Orochimaru’s voice actor, Steve Blum, has provided his voice for other characters, such as Ohnoki, Ao, Zabuza Momochi, Chomei/Seven Tails, Juzo Biwa, Hamura Otsutsuki, Sazanami, and various other miscellaneous roles in the Naruto series.
- In the light novel Sasuke Shinden: The Teacher’s Star Pupil, there is a scene that hints at Orochimaru’s lingering interest in Sasuke and his involvement with Team 7.
